Pill House

Mixed Media Sculpture

2012-2022

Step into the world of “Pill House,” where Sara Crochet delves into the intricate dynamics of medication. Over a decade, she has gathered pills that represent the struggles of over-prescription, misdiagnosis, and the quest for the right treatment.

Displayed in a vintage gumball machine reminiscent of candy, this installation mirrors the gamble of navigating healthcare—where each choice can feel uncertain, much like reaching into a gumball machine for a surprise. Amidst anxiety, OCD, and uncertainty, the search for answers often seems like a game of chance. Meanwhile, the haste in doctor’s offices can lead to overlooked needs and quick fixes. “Pill House” serves as both a protest and a symbol of the journey through hope and experimentation, underscoring the importance of personalized care and open communication in the healing process. It is a poignant reminder that while medication plays a crucial role, the patient’s voice and tailored care are indispensable.

Rebirth

Multimedia Film (Photography, Cinematic Visuals, AI-generated Art)

“Rebirth” intricately weaves together a captivating collage of photography, cinematic visuals, and AI-generated art, merging diverse artistic expressions into a mesmerizing tapestry of visual storytelling. Inspired by the ethereal landscapes of dreams and driven by the need to heal from a haunting memory, Sara Crochet explores themes of self-expression, identity, trauma, empathy, and catharsis.

The work harnesses the elemental power of fire as a central symbol of transformation, depicting the process of shedding burdens and embracing change. The narrative unfolds like a mesmerizing dance of flames, reflecting the act of releasing life’s traumas. Through the seamless fusion of meticulously captured photography, cinematic visuals, and AI-generated art, “Rebirth” captures the essence of liberation and personal transformation.
