Sara Crochet is an award-winning Cuban American filmmaker and photographer based in southern Louisiana. Her artistic practice delves into themes of identity, healing, and personal transformation, expressed through a rich blend of mediums and storytelling techniques.
A graduate of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a BA in Cinema Studies and a minor in Visual Arts (2017), Sara’s work has earned international acclaim. She was awarded the Gold Prize in the 2018-2019 Nikon Photo Contest, with her film “Exulansis” receiving top honors in the Short Film Category and featured in a traveling exhibition across Southern Asia and Europe.
In 2019, Sara further expanded her expertise at the Nikon-NOOR Academy in Barcelona, Spain. This esteemed master class focused on ethical visual journalism and documentary practices, where she gained invaluable insights from leading photographers.
Sara frequently undertakes freelance projects, offering both photography and cinematography services, including the creation of music videos for emerging artists. In addition to her full-time role as a photographer and social media manager, she curates a vintage business, Shop Mom’s Laundry, located in Lafayette. Her unwavering commitment to art drives her continuous creative endeavors.
As an active member of LOUDHOUSE, a collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art, Sara’s work is a testament to her dedication to innovative storytelling and artistic exploration. Her creative journey reflects her passion for bridging the gap between art and personal narrative, consistently challenging and inspiring through her evolving projects.
